Home Alone at Shangri-la

If you have been following me on twitter, you would have known that my sis and I were left home alone one fine night when my parents went to watch the play, "Fried Rice Paradise", at the Esplanade!

And what better way to celebrate your being home alone than...

...Setting up pesky traps for potential burglars or kidnappers??

Absolute no-no! Definitely not some Kevin McCallister or rather Macaulay Culkin in any case!

Hence, for normal boring folks like me and my sis, we celebrated it by heading to Shangri-la The Line for a feast...discreetly!

So, anyway, our initial plan was to aim for Shangri-la's "38% discount - applicable only if you booked online within a certain period"  however we were too late for that promotion as the restaurant was full house on that particular night and especially since we were required to book online some days in advance!

But, the sis was craving for her favorite oysters at Shangri-la so we went ahead despite knowing we had to fork out a staggering amount of S$80 odd per pax! I know, crazy us!

Waited for mom and dad to leave the house before we proceeded on Plan A! Lol! This sounds so spy kids-like!

Anyway, it was a resounding success and within an hour of dressing up, we were off!

Sis wearing the ColorSplash Maxi Dress I bought her!

Hailed a cab to Shangri-la since it was tucked away in some "ulu pandan" area near RELC! Furthermore, we weren't sure which bus to take and which MRT station to alight at!

Me! See?! Flashing-the-twist runs in our family!

 Sis!

Reached Shangri-la and we went straight down to The Line! They didn't have any vacancies for actual tables and chairs so we settled on the next best alternative - stylish stool chairs and bar tables!

Once we were settled, dropped my stuff on the table and went to grab some food! Impatient and excited, as per usual

Disclaimer:
The interior of the restaurant was so "orangey-fied" that the photos taken made everything looked like we were in some orange dreamland! All the photos taken (including the photo before the jump) was taken by yours truly so kindly exercise some internet courtesy and ask for permission or credit me, if for whatever reasons, should you require these photos! ((:

Now you get what I meant by getting "Orangey-fied"??

Aimed for the prawns and oysters!
These are seriously the best chilled prawns I have ever eaten in Singapore!
Oysters are rather good though I wouldn't say fresh but it had that mineral taste!
Yummy Rating: 3.8/5

 Sis with her favorite oysters!

Me with my food loots!

And it was Sashimi time!

L-R: Refreshing Tako, Salmon and Tai!
I absolutely love the sashimi here cause it's super fresh as
they are freshly sliced in front of you so you can be sure of the quality!
 Yummy Rating: 3.9/5

A satisfied pig!

Washed out effect contributed from my Nikon camera!

And another one of my favorites, Fruity Rojak!

Super yum!
But it really boils down to your luck as it could be just nice or too overly salty!
But a definite must-try!
Yummy Rating: 3.65/5

Next up...Chinese Cooked Food Delights!

L-R: (Anti-clockwise)
Kai lan vegetable, Guo Tie dumpling, Char Siew Bao, Sauteed Fish and Siew Mai

 Dessert Crepe!
My self-requested Banana & Nutella Crepe!

Me and my stained nutella teeth!

Sis looking at...ants?!

Took some abstract shots of my sis!

Was full to the brim after round 1 so took a rest and
snapped photos to burn some calories!

 Some cute lil' girl!

Our bar table!

Ordered some English tea to relieve some strain on the tummy!
Mine's Peppermint tea while sis ordered Chamomile tea!

Lol! Me tempting sis with my banana-nutella crepe!

 My face of satisfaction!
Forced Sis to take this photo for me although she said it was a bad angle!

Cheese and cracker...on sis plate!
Not a fan of solid cheese!

 Me sipping my peppermint tea!

 Sis sipping her chamomile tea!

Helping herself to some chocolate from the chocolate fondue!

Ate some cakes from the huge range of desserts shelves on the wall!

Nothing exceptionally memorable, well except for one particular cake which tasted like that bounty coconut shavings bar! Which I felt was rather interesting and surprisingly good in fact!

Our spendings for the night!
Total came up to S$160.05 but since we went on dutch, so S$80 per pax!
Money-grubber pain but the oysters and sashimi were worth it!

Oh yeah, have I mentioned that they have something like a "cold rock" station inside The Line?

It goes like this, you choose an ice cream and select the toppings to mix and mash with your ice cream on a cold marble slab!

Which, for my case, I chose peppermint ice cream and hershey's chocolate chips to mix into my ice cream!

The outcome? Just deliciously refreshing! Like a dentist's visit, as some would say!

But I love that refreshing feeling! So remember to stop by this station to make it worth your every buck before you leave!

 At the hotel lobby!

Oh yeah, if I looked different here,
it's because I couldn't care less and just drew on some eyeliner!
Pardon my laziness please!

Snapped some photos and we went back...via MRT of course! Lol! Can't possibly be taking cab to and fro right! Lol! We aren't "tai tais" manx!
