Toy Story 3

Had a nostalgic day with Fanana as we went to catch...(Ta-dah!) Toy Story 3!

Oh yeah and I think Fanana's like destined to be my movie buddy! Iron Man 2 and now Toy Story 3!

It was my turn to be late this time but hey, I redeemed myself by flying down via cab! And to my defence, I was actually on time and Fanana wasn't here yet so I made a trip to the restroom to pass time!

sneaked in a shot while waiting for fanana
love my polka dot tunic by the way <3

Anyway, went to GV box office only to find Fanana (who to my credit, just arrived!) surrounded by a swarm of kiddos and their parents! Like school holiday blues, hello!

Though it was rather easy to spot her since she did mention to look out for our sequined beret! But had to do a double take cause the girl with the beret I spotted, looked a tad too tall to be Fanana but I thought it had to be her since no one else would be as insane as us to wear a beret on a hot day like this!

Went closer and closer! And yupp, it was really her alright! Girl was wearing her 18 bucks wedges, which explains the impeccable height!

Anyway, we were both intensely praying that ALL these kids wouldn't be watching Toy Story 3 as we haven't booked the tickets and would be lost and stranded at Vivo if we didn't get our darned tickets!

But turns out miracles do happen, most of them bought tickets for The Karate Kid (which was sold out)! Probably just a coincidence but at the corner of my eye, spotted that SATC2 was also sold out! Which got me thinking, maybe the parents dumped their kids to watch The Karate Kid and then go over to the next theatre to watch their SATC2!

Just one of my crazy imaginations!

Anyway, we bought the tickets and made a mad dash to Subway for some quick lunch! Fanana ordered the brand new Beef Salami sub and I ordered my usual Turkey Breast sub! Oh and Subway was giving away free coke zero with every meal!

Stopped for a rest at the washroom and being a stickler for cleanliness, I nearly drove Fanana mad with my insistence in cleaning out my new Alexa bag from post-Subway war (even though we only had less than 10 minutes left to get from level 1's toilet to the theater!)

Anyway, managed to reach the theater early by taking the lift! We even had time to watch a little Visa commercial and an entertaining 3D cartoon skit, "Night and Day", by the interns at Pixar!

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

And oh my god, Toy Story 3 was so damn good!

I think it's really fantastic that they started the opening scene by time traveling and introducing us to the time Andy was happily playing with his toys (before he grew up), from the moment he excitedly received Buzz Lightyear and Woody as his Christmas gifts to now when he's all grown up, getting ready for college and neglecting all his toy buddies!

It really tugs at your heart strings as we can absolutely relate to Andy and his toys, how we were all kids once and how we gradually forsake our toys for academic books and technology gadgets! Furthermore, who can forget Andy's toys?

People our generation (I can't believe I just typed this, but yes, people our generation) can still recall the very first 1995 Toy Story film that was fun vanilla but full of humanity about replacement, friendship and gratefulness!

So we feel like we know Andy's toys on a personal level and feel extremely heartbreaking for them when the neglected toys staged a phone call, just to hope that Andy will play with them or at least care for them once more before he heads to college but alas, to no avail!

Toy Story 3 continues teaching us lessons on life and reflects a thing or two, adapted from our actual world! i.e. Like when Lotso the "Lots-O'-Hugging-Bear" was selfish and sacrificed Buzz and the rest to the horrible "Caterpillar Room" (remember evil ex-classmates/colleagues who kept mum about certain things just to let you get into trouble?) and when Woody rescued Losto the "Lots-O'-Hugging-Bear" but the latter left the former and the rest of the toys to fall into the incinerator to their certain death (which reminds us of ungrateful ingrates we helped along the way and to teach small kiddos that karma will bite you back in the ass hence it always pays to be good at the very end!)

But it also makes us cherish friendship till literally death when Woody, Buzz and the rest of the toys held hands together even in the face of death by fire (probably so they could die together) and oh man, I really thought they were going to die and my eyes were tearing like mad! Thank god I remembered about the squeeze aliens! Lol!

It was not all tears and sadness though! There were still the usual unexpected Pixar laughs like when Buzz Lightyear had his mode set to Spanish mode (thanks to Woody and gang) and oh my god, I love Rex because he was always too optimistic-funny!

Some of the characters (old and new) I really love:

 Big Baby!
One of the heroes who helped break free of that strawberry bear's revolution!

 Isn't she cute??
Feel like hugging her to sleep!

The sweet triceratop that is technology-savy!
A potential girlfriend for Rex <3

Edamame!

The shakespeare hedgehog!

Hamm Dr. Pork Chops!

Jessie the Cowgirl!

The hilarious and talkative Mr. Potato Head <3

Rex, my one and only love!
He's so hopelessly adorable optimistic funny!

Buzz Lightyear! To Infinity...and Beyond!

Woody the thoughtful leader sheriff!

...not to forget, "THE CLAW" squeeze aliens!
gotta love them! they are so cuteee!

LOL! Used flash; check out the shocked expression of the woman behind us!

Misty-eyed Fanana and Misty-eyed + Double chin Me!

Took a pic in the washroom after the movie!
Check out my water drops hairclip! Cool right?!

After that, we went to browse the various shops at Vivo! Our unanimous first stop! Forever21!

Went in to browse the various outfits and had my eye on two tops that I wanted to pay for it myself! But, Sergeant Joys called and ordered to use up the remainder of my birthday fund so colonel Fanana and I had to comply by her instructions! Lol!

A GIGANTIC thank you to everyone who contributed to my birthday fund from last year!

By alphabetical order:
Brian, Fanana, Jessy, Joys, Kiat, Louiss, Meili, Rainy, Sky, Sow, Tiffany, Vincent, Zheng Zhong (Sorry if I left anyone out!)

Shall sneak in some photos of one of the tops! A gaga-licious top in fact!

Check out the puffy sleeves <3

Okay, fine, I do look like a giant mint green fungus!

Anyway, that's about it cause after which we browsed Topshop for their sales (but it was real bad), River Island as well (after sales discount, still expensive!) and Pull & Bear (but nothing particularly worth buying) in a hurry as we had to rush home before 7pm! Dinner for me and in Fanana's case, for her beloved Portugal match!

P.S. Hope you guys enjoy this post! Would love to leave you guys with this provoking question!
Do you think that it's possible toys would be completely replaced by latest electronic gadgets, i.e. ipad and iphones 4, when it comes to our future children's generation?
